The ACUCA Management Conference is a biennial event that brings together representatives of ACUCA member institutions for a more comprehensive discussion of a single theme. For the ACUCA Management Conference 2017, the theme is “Exploring the Relationship of Religion, Culture, and Peace in Christian Higher Education.” Previous conferences have been excellent platforms for debate and discussion on areas of interest. Often times, they are topics that have emerged from the General Assembly. We expect this year’s theme to engage conference attendees from both an academic and personal perspective. The conference will take place on the campus of Payap University, Chiang Mai, Thailand, during the period 19-21 October, 2017.
The ACUCA Management Conference is also an excellent opportunity for member institutions to meet, greet, and network with colleagues who wouldn’t normally cross paths. There are currently 61 member institutions from eight countries, two of whom are new members starting in 2017. The two new members are Kobe College (Japan) and the Tarakanita School of Communication and Secretarial Studies (Indonesia). All ACUCA members share a distinctive quality which includes its Christian heritage. The mandate of ACUCA is consistent with this identity and events such as this management conference:
ACUCA is unique in that it has comprehensive mandate to bring about a veritable community of Christian institutions of higher learning in Asia, working closely together to benefit each other as well as the societies in which they exist. The ACUCA Secretariat is designed to be the instrumentality for creating the environmental prerequisites for active interaction and participation among the member-institutions to take place. In realizing this goal, there must be a continuing response to the changing conditions of Asian societies, a constant awareness of educational developments in the region, and a resolute will to actualize the Christian witness even in academic pursuits. Only through effective programs can the Association live up to the high expectations of its membership and ensure its viability.
We hope that ACUCA members will attend and participate fully in the 2017 Management Conference. For more information regarding:
